Good graphics card for a good price

Right OK I will consider this, BUT it must be less than 27cm in length otherwise it won't physically fit. My South bridge heatsink is worrying me a little on whether it will fit too, but then again, it is about the same height as the PCI-E 16x slot, so I may be OK

Good graphics card for a good price

Hi yes I have considered that card, but I want to run vista x64 too, and run reasonably new games, even if it means turning down the quality. I have 2 GB of RAM now, so that should keep me a "little" bit more future proof, along with an overclocked athlon 64 3200+ that runs faster than a 4000+...

Good graphics card for a good price

OK I have looked at some ideas for cards. The 8800GT looks a bit "much" for my system to keep up with, I may have considered it if I had a dual core CPu. Other things to remember are that I need a graphics card that isn't going to cause CPu / RAM Speed bottleneck. I want this computer to last...

Good graphics card for a good price

I was considering an 8600GTS, maybe a 512MB version if I can get hold of one. (PS: I forgot to say, the interface on my motherboard is PCI-E) I now can't be arsed replacing my CPu or anything, so I need something that is level to the rest of my setup

Good graphics card for a good price

Hi all, havn't been on here a while, my computer life has gone from extreme gamer, to basic user. However just want to be able to play games a bit more. I just want a graphics card, nothing else, just upped my RAM to 2GB about half an hour ago. So I now have 4 x 512MBs running at 332MHz...

    PC Freezes

personally, i would say bad motherboard, but try testing your RAM with MEMTEST '86 - google it. leave it to run for 4 - 8 hours, and see if it comes up with errors at the end of it. If you can, try another video card. But above all, my guess is motherboard

32 bit os and 4gb ram

Athlon XPs? No, I think you mean Sempron 64's, Athlon 64's and above etc.

    GeForce 9 series in February

I see you, the so called "mid-range" cards were crap, apart from until they released the 8800GT

    Building a Computer

thermaltake do some superb power supplies, both my systems use them. In my main one I have a Toughpower 600Watts, and in my other one, a 420Watts TR2 which does the job perfect for its needs

    7600GT AGP Problems

I play the "waiting game" myself, I am using my built on graphics at the moment, and I'm gholding out for as long as possible for a cheap, good card, maybe in february I will bite the bullet and buy one.

    Graphics Card suggestions

nVIDIA are generally better at writing the software for their cards, ATi are having a lot of problems with their drivers at the moment with their newer cards, resulting in poor performance on a lot of things. This may get fixed and sorted in the near future though.

looks good. Wouldn't trust it if it has a Maxtor hard drive inside of it though.

    SATA Help?

Well, my hard drive I have now is SATA 2, and I used it in a SATA 1 board for a while, with limitted to 1.5Gb/s pin arrangment. However the jumper was very loose and often fell out, never really did any damage. I should be backward compatible and work, but at the lower bus speed of 1.5Gb/s as...

IBM Thinkpad 390x Hard drive upgrade

find out what interface and what standards it uses, and how bigger hard drive the motherboard will support. By the sounds of the model of it, it sounds like a relatively old laptop and may limit the speeds and capacity of which hard drive you put in it. Or if so may need a BIOS update.

8800 GT, PCI E 2.0, and my motherboard

maybe I should wait even longer for nVIDIA to take the fight with DirectX 10.1, I have used nVIDIA cards since my old humble TNT RIVA, and GeForce 2 MX 220 Series cards, all the way up to the 7600GS in my other system. I have never had a problem with any of them. Just update my drivers every...

    Solid State Disk

Well maybe once they start complying with full SATA 2 bus speeds, we will actually see an even bigger improvement. Personally, I won't pay any more than £100 on a hard drive or in this case, solid state disk. Plus I won't make do with anything less than 80GB

8800 GT, PCI E 2.0, and my motherboard

I bet that looks friggin sweet. I heard about the HD 2xxx Series being crap. Lets hope ATi can regain their old repuation with cards like the 9800 Pro/XT, x800 Series, x1600 Series, x1800 Series and x1900 Series cards. They were good cards, exceptional bang 4 buck on most, let's see if the...

8800 GT, PCI E 2.0, and my motherboard

Hi, yes I am upgrading my CPu to a 4200+ Athlon 64 X2, and overclocking it perhaps. And I will be running Dual channel 4 x 512MB PC3200 DIMMs 2.5CL, Team Group Inc - Home Anyway, we shall see the results from these new babies, see if they are in fact better/similar to an 8800GT with a better...

    Different Combinations of Memory

I`d buy 2 x 2GB, then maybe add the 2nd 2 x 2GB in a year or so, see how things go as far as games and other applications go... plus, dont run 1 or 3 sticks at the same time, because its slower.
