    Large whirry noise

Yeah don't worry. You should exercise caution, but really it's not easy to get electrocuted while reaching in there. You'll be fine.

Can't seem to get my PC to work no matter what I try.

For resetting CMOS, I believe you do two things. One is take out the circular "watch" battery. And two is, there should be a jumper (or switch perhaps?) somewhere on the board for resetting CMOS. See in your manual if you have it, or it might be labeled on the MoBo. Perhaps you don't need to...

    sound from only 1 speaker

Yeah, I had a similar thing happen too. I got a little bit of sound from my other speaker, but it was always unbalanced: the right speaker always emitted more sound than the left. It started happening after I owned my old PCI SB 512 sound card for a long time, probly like 5 years. So eventually...

    Stepping down

Bah come on, don't sound like he's totally forsaking this forum, he's just stepping down as mod. Haha hopefully.

help with updating graphics card please

Certainly either of those would be worth buying because they should be much better than the onboard card. That is always the case: onboard video sucks compared to a real video card (unless that video card is old and not current). I have no idea if your cheaper choice will be adequate, sorry...

    Some issues with my LCD

That's weird lol. But hey, the simple solution to that is to just push the button to turn it off :D

Can't seem to get my PC to work no matter what I try.

Ah then that's simple. You can always download your MoBo's manual in pdf from manufacturer website, if you can't find your original one. Any decent diagnostics program like CPU-Z (currently my favorite) will tell you what MoBo brand/model you have.

Can't seem to get my PC to work no matter what I try.

That's strange. Can you go into BIOS and see what kind of things it says about your components there? Also, there are ways to try to figure out faulty components. For example, you can take out everything non-essential. Do you have on-board video card by any chance? If so, take out your ATI card...

Ah, well thanks for the great job you've done in the past! Hope you'll still visit often enough!

    Hannspree 25" HD LCD Monitor

EDIT: You know what, I think I figured it out. The HD label does not actually mean anything in terms of image quality. What it is saying is that it is in 16:9 resolution (as opposed to 16:10, for example, which is another popular wide-screen format for LCD's), and 16:9 is the same aspect ratio...

Works in XP, why not in Vista? (NVidia 6600LE)

Wow that's really lame. Are those drivers for Win Vista rather than WinXP drivers? (Sorry, that probably looks like a really exasperating question from your perspective...) And there was nothing about this mentioned in the support page(s) by nvidia? Usually they have some info about it if the...

    Simple noob question, upgrading GPU

Hmmm... I would just uninstall the old drivers first regardless. Whenever I have upgraded the drivers on my current ATI card, I have always uninstalled the older version of drivers. Moreover, the instructions from ATI have always specifically and clearly stated to do just that: 1. uninstall...

More on topic, tarkata14, are you building this PC or did this machine work previously and then broke?

No Antec as part of that list? You sure?

    Laptop Monitor Power Saving query

Really? Your monitor stays on when you close the lid? That's strange. I have a laptop also, and in the "Advanced" tab in the Power Options, I have it like this: under the headline, "When I close the lid of my computer:", I have it set to "do nothing". (The other options are either to stand by or...

    Hello Again.....

By the way, Sniper: so, should I be able to deduce that it's a "tech news blog" from the name, "zone365"? If so, how? Am I totally missing something?? Sorry if I'm being a total n00b right now... just curious... Basically, I don't understand what the name means at all. =\ So what does it mean? lol.

Upgrading a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop, need some help

Make sure to look for the AGP versions of these cards not the PCI-e lol. Oh, and I think you *will* need to upgrade the PSU, especially if you put in a juicy new video card. 250 watts is considered quite low. I'm guessing it's the generic one that came with the original comp? Some people (who...

First time build. Motherboard won't boot. Need Advice.

I think one of the most important and decisive indicators is whether or not there was a POST beep. Was there? If not, then it's obviously not POST-ing, and so one of the main hardware components is malfunctioning. Also, not sure what you mean by the "bench test". Did you try taking out...
