    My computer shut down

No, you don't need to disassemble it. Just open up the case and spray everything down. Make sure you're in a ventilated area or you'll be coughing up dust bunnies for a week.

    Re-fill or Re-cycle

Yea, I used to send them back to HP until Staples started giving me $3 for each one (see above).

    Yay!!!

Nice work - just finished up uni - albeit in a different field. Still tho, it's not a bad idea to have some managerial experience, even if this class was a bit premature. If you want to make your way up the corp. ladder of any company as a programmer, you'll need to manage people in one way...

    e6600 or e6700

Like everyone said above - save some bones and go with the e6600. The e6700 isn't worth the extra $$ yet. My e6600 is working good...

    My computer shut down

Is this a machine you built or bought at the store? Installed any new hardware or software recently? Out of curiosity, when's the last time you hit the insides with a can of compressed air?

Any advice on what i want?

Ah, I remember those days - getting those first few paychecks.:D I'd slowly start collecting parts, either buying them or bumming hand-me-downs from friends. A good mobo will let you upgrade as your budget allows, so don't try to go too cheap there. Looks like that mobo handles: #...

    Long Ethernet Cable ?

Yea, those prepackaged cables at the big-box stores are outrageously expensive and marked up. ie. I got a 25' one ( or something like that) for my PS2 a few years ago from Best Buy and they wanted $20-$30 for it. Fortunately I knew someone that worked there and he got it for $5.

    Re-fill or Re-cycle

Yea, rather be safe than sorry. I don't use them, but would only consider using black ink refills on daily use documents. I've heard scarey things about cheap inks fading pretty quickly. Also, just an FYI. Staples gives you $3 off future ink purchases for every empty you bring it. It's not a...

    Under $1000 Gaming Computer

Also, consider getting 2 SATA drives and running in RAID 0 for faster read/write.

    silence

I run Zalman stuff in my comp (PSU, CPU heatsink/fan, and case fans) They're pretty quiet and the fans have adjustable speed settings. Just an FYI, they won't cool as efficiently the quieter they are, but you're probably aware of that. If you check out my PC Profile (click the image) you...

Cooling fans, can they be fitted either way round?

Yep, you'll need to alter the direction the fan points. I draw in my air from the front & bottom, and out the back & top. This way I don't suck in dust bunnies from the back and I can get rid of the hot air more easily (since it rises). I "think" the side to which the blades curve...

    Your Thoughts of PCProfiles.com ?

I started a site over at PCProfiles.com - Computer Hardware Reviews & Community that I'm trying to get some input on. In a nutshell, it allows people to create a "profile" of their PC, listing out their specs, posting some pictures, commenting/rating other profiles, etc. Here's a user's...
