I have a new CQ desktop SR5113WM with Vista. I instaled my old XP hard drive WD400BB, it shows up in the Device manager but it has no letter and dosen’t show in Coumpter. I wanted to get old files from it. Would like help.
Thanks! Bill
go through this Sticky, if you have any more troubles, we’re here
You’ll need to assign it a letter.
To do this, go to Start–>Settings–>Control Panel–>Administrative Tools–>Computer Management–>Storage—>Disk Management.
Here you can right-click on the drive in question, and the menu that pops up should give you an option to assign a drive letter.
I found my problem, the XP hard drive had GO BACK instaled on it. So had to delet it first.
Thanks for the help! Bill
