2nd SATA drive recognition problem

I fitted a second SATA hard drive but it wasn’t recognised in the initial system check, nor as a boot device, nor in disk mangament in Windows.

Then I tried changing the setting in the BIOS in Advanced Settings|ATA/IDE configuration|Legacy IDE Channels from SATA primary/PATA secondary to SATA only. Then the second hard drive was recognised by all three of the above, but I lost the use of my DVD drive.

What is going on? And what can I do?

PATA - Parallel Advanced Technology Adaptor, they use IDE cables for the interface. your CD/DVD drive is also connected with IDE cable nd if you disable PATA interface, it will neva work so you have to enable it…

Right, but how do I get both working at the same time - the DVD drive and the second hard drive?

Attach your second HDD nd Set the drive(which has Windows on it) on first number/priority through BIOS…

I seem to have found the answer which was to change the ‘ATA/IDE configuration setting’ from ‘compatible’ to ‘enhanced’.
