think it’s a good card?

If not, too bad I already ordered one.

I’m gonna be playing need for speed underground 2 and half life mods. That’s about it. and photo/video editing with it

Nice, just don’t do a Procal X and try and mod it into a X800 XT or some crazy stunt like that

Lol his died in a year didn’t it?
Seems ok but don’t know if you can get better with a similar price card.

wow that’s crazy, I don’t think I’m gonna do much with this card. I bought an arctic cooler so maybe some overclocks to see what it can do

The 9600XT Ultra has faster RAM speed 680MHz (340MHz x2), but uses the standard 500MHz core clock. The ‘regular’ 9600XT has a 500MHz core and 300MHz DDR speed.

I wouldn’t buy a 9600, since they are only crippled 9800s. Four pixel-pipes isn’t too respectible in this day & age. :o

yeah, but during school I don’t have much time for gaming anyway

I saw a 9800SE at newegg by power color. It says 128mb ddr 256-bit what? And on the box it says 256 bit! I thought all SE’s were 64bit!

Must be a typo or something.

Well, the RAM on SE’s is 64-bit, but that one looks like DDR2. The four pixel-pipe thing is what gets me; doesn’t that just make it a 9600? :stuck_out_tongue:

No you see, if you get a 9800SE with DDR2 you can softmod it with omegacorner drivers to a 9800Pro, and it unlocks the extra 4 pipelines, so its just a slightly slower 9800Pro.

And yes i got a Vivo X800Pro and modded it to a X800XT (which was suprisngly easy), problem was i then decided to overclock it  so i had a X800XT OC’d, which it didn’t like after a while.

Then i got a 6800 and that just didnt want to work at all.. so i got a refund, sold my old machine and brought my AMD64 :), just got a terrible graphics card in it, but its worth it.

And considering you have 9600SE i wouldn’t have gone for the 9600XT Ultra, the 9600XT will probably struggle with newer games, i know when i had my old one it certainly did, and that was on a AMD Barton 2500+ @2.2Ghz 1GB Corsair XMS (on higher graphics anyway)

You would be better off getting the 9700Pro.. for the money its probably less than a 9600XT i believe and its got 8 Pipelines, 128bit memory, its a fantastic card.

I would suggest sending it back within 7 days under the distance selling act thing. When you send it back during the cooling off period i don’t think you have to supply a reason.

That is a very good card to have.

I’d send it back.

too late to cancel order now. Oh well, I doubt I’ll be disapointed as of now i game on a 9600SE. so any increase I’ll be happy

IT’S HERE!!! WITH AN ARCTIC SILENCER2 I ORDERED!!! :)!!! I’m gonna do some testing with the cooling. The fan is about the size of my fist!

yaaaay it works!

the stock cooler was alright. But the rams on the back got painful to touch with an open case after 30 mintures. The only cool thing about the stock cooler is that it had a built in red LED. I put on an Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 2. That thing IS A BEAST! runs cool now and it also cools my sound card with the air it sucks in. sweet cooler and is totally silent. Too bad I can’t read temps anymore…I’ve gone through 3 diodes now!
