Sounds like you’ve got some nice trojan software there! Something’s installing the spyware for you…
Try Spybot S&D, if you haven’t already. It can get rid of some pretty tough spyware, plus it can immunize against many types of spyware to prevent reinfection.
my genius sarcasm brother, managed to get 500+ entries on AdAware, and 120+ entires on SB S+D. In one freaking day.
His desktop has changed from regular old XP to a black screen with some warning about “Spyware effecting your privacy”…And it’s interactive, ie, click on it anywhere and it goes to some dodgy search engine.
Any idea how to get rid of it? Please not that Adware, Spybot, SpyDoctor and norton 2003 all removed a tonne of crap except for this dodgy desktop. I can supply a screeny if necessary.
No extra programs have been installed as far as I can see, but that doesn’t mean anything.
Reinstall? Format the HDD first because without that most of it will probably escape if its still there. With that much spyware he’s bound to have downloaded some trojans/viruses.
Wouldn’t happen to be hit with VX2 at all now would he. Ended up with that on one system and tried everything imaginable to delete it and it kept coming back.
Finally found a program called vx2 finder that got rid of it, but before that it was popping up ads like crazy, kept taking me to My Documents, and had my system running practically 100% CPU at all times.
And viruses too. What is accomplished? Woop-de-doo, some one made some one elses computing life a misery. Congrats, buddy. Now go get a life…
