Just wondering if you have any clue on how I can stop this madness…I had a folder on my desktop (Win XP) and when I remove to recycle bin…the forkin thing keeps going back to my desktop, even after I empty the contents of the recycle bin. I have searched for everything related to the name of the folder and deleted all off my PC in hopes that it won’t connect itself wrongly to another similarly named file/folder
Any ideas?
Thanks
~Randy

What is the name of this folder?
What files are in it? (or is it empty)

it was a folder I created to put music my old band was doing in…I deleted all of the songs so it is now empty but still named what it was after the band that the music was for. I’ve tried to delete in safe mode, shift Delete, deleting and restarting without clearing recycle bin…
OK, i have no idear why its happening but here’s a few things to try!
- Rename the folder, Then delete it
- Where any programs (ie Mp3 encoders, Audio editors) using files inside it? (its possible that that program is re-creating the folder…).
When does the folder re-appear? (does it re-appear immediately or when you re-start?)

Tried renaming and deleting a minute ago and its back already…sometimes it comes back quicker than others. I used windows media player to play the songs inside the folder. I tried “Simple File Shredder” and it didn’t work either apparently.
try holding Shift key while you delete it cos it then bypasses recycle bin - proper delete

Tried that as well and it didn’t work
when you delete it how long does it usually take to reappear of does it only return on reboot
sometimes immediately and sometimes after a reboot. I notice that my desktp sometimes flickers as well.
Try deleting in command line.
Open command line (Start > Run > then type cmd and press enter)
It should show what directory you’re in like:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME>_
Type RMDIR Desktop\FolderName
(where FolderName is the name of the folder you want to delete)
Try that and see what happens, just another way of deleting but I don’t think it’s been mentioned / tried yet.
i don’t think desktop flickering is related to the problem, thats probably just a low refresh rate (Htz) and a high desktop resolution (1600 x 1200, 1280 x 1024) for your monitor
does it stay deleted when deleted from the command line ?
if not try deleting it in safe mode & immediatly delete from recycle bin then reboot
waiting to see if my pc decides to remain a prick…thanks for the help though everyone!
tried the command prompt, it failed…tried the safe mode thing the other day
have you tried shift detete in safe mode ?
thinking about it for a while
I’d try all of the possible options in both safe mode and normal mode to see what happens. Just to make sure you’ve covered it all.
anyone else know why this stupid shit is happening? WTF is up with Windows?
after you delete in safe mode, could you restart and again load in safe mode and see if the folder appears again.
