fresh install of kubuntu, most things installed & configured, but VMware is installed but not configured, when i try to configure “sudo vmware-config.pl” after i typed the location of gcc, got this error:

What is the location of the “gcc” program on your machine? /usr/bin/gcc

Using compiler “/usr/bin/gcc”. Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/lib/modules/2.6.15-27-686/build/include]

kernel headers are correct location, at a loss as to what it could be: both web pages quoted are the same, kubuntu is supported

pwease help

Make sure that automake and its appropriate dependencies are installed. there are quite a few different versions like automake1.6, 1.7, 1.8 which exist in the same repository.

well, i had automake 1.4 installed, so i uninstalled 1.4 and installed 1.8 and also added a few apt stuff, VMware now running, thankies, for pointing me in the right direction, i feel like the donkey that is my handle, with some of the stupid questions i ask, thank you
