Bad Digital signal

Hello

For a while now i have been getting digital channels most of them work fine with perfect signal. But i do have a few channels that are very bad signal like UKTV history, Virgin1, Dave, film 4, E4 channel. when i go on these channels it shows up nicely but then goes away for a few secs and a BAD SIGNAL is displayed. I thought right, i know what will sort this out a signal booster so i went and got one it does 14dB i installed it but the same problem occurs those same channels are still messed up with no good signal. i have checked if my booster was installed properly and it was so i don’t understand whats going on.

someone help please

If the signal that you receive is corrupted then unfortunately boosting it wont change that.

What might help is a bigger aerial / bigger

Signal boosters can make a difference with analogue signals, but not digital .

I got a standard aerial what other aerial are there?
and yes i got a freeview

@Impy :agree:, but a bigger / better aerial may help temporarily, however, as it was working fine maybe the Coax cable is damaged or where the cable terminates at either the aerial or TV might not be making a good connection

it’s easier to check the TV coax plug first & do a visual inspection for damage, possibly rewire the aerial just to make sure

The cable is 1 year old, i checked if anything was damaged but nothing

if you don’t live in a bad signal area and there hasn’t being any big buildings or things to block your aerial from receiving the signal i think i’d try replacing the cable & see what happens, hopefully it’ll solve your problems

Edit: i’ve done many things in my life including install aerials for a living

Edit: replacing the cable may work because not all damage i visible, a few months ago my broadband went off & then about 3 days later my phone went dead because of a damaged BT cable, i was not a happy bunny when BT tried to charge me over £100 to have a so-called “FREE” callout, they didn’t charge me after i rung them & told them they can bo11ocks if they think i’m paying that

On my system software updates to the box have caused similar screw ups to the system that you’re finding, for example I can turn on channel four and maybe it’ll work or maybe it wont, but if it has decided to work sometimes it’ll work fine and then seconds later the visual will degrade until I get get “no signal being received” messages. Although my situation is slightly different to yours (geography and I’m using sky) friends with older (and cheaper) boxes that have not had the software upgrade can watch these channels without problems despite being in the same part of the world as me. I’m afraid I can offer no precise advise but maybe it’ll be of some use to you.

Well i checked if my area has a good signal and it does because i live in London which has to have a good signal. Secondly My house is kinda sitting on top of a hill so theres nothing in the way. I think i need to get an expert in to check it out but im sure thats gonna cost me a lot.
