I just had a MASSIVE error after installing the latest update for WinXP SP2. My computer restarted on me instantly for some reason (even after I did the restart for the update). When I got back it said Generic 32 Host had encountered an error and needed to close. When I reported it Microsoft came back saying they KNEW about the error and offered a fix, so just a heads-up to watch out for, if your PC restarts by itself and you get the choice to send an error report, do so.
I go on the basis of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. That’s why I haven’t updated my SP2 windows installation for the past 3 months.
Never had a problem.
But thanks for the heads up.
It’s a good thing to go by, I only updated WinXP because I was bored and it was bugging me. ![]()

Well, actually it is broken. But I guess that since 23% of XP’s vulnerabilities are currently unpatched, even being 100% up to date is not very safe.
