i have intill the 31 of this month to get a barebone system for free but i want to to be cheap becuase i will probly pay it back but i was thinking about this here
but im not sure if it comes with ram cpu becuase of the list on the upper right corner
if anyone could help becuase even if its cheap i dont to get it then have to go get stuff for it
or do u have any other ideas i need it to be a cheap as possible there are my own reasons for it to be cheap becuase i might hurt it beond repair me and my friend are going to experiment with it diffrent linuxes how many viruses we and get on it and other things u would never what to do
Those barebones systems are often just a case, a PSU and a motherboard - in this case it’s a Socket 754 Motherboard - they’re old and CPU’s aren’t produced for that socket anymore.
if u guys can tell me if the mobo will suport that cpu because at the barebone site they say intel p4 but the celeron is cheaper and has the same bus and socket??
i will searcher later into the cpu/mobo compaiblty
.yeh celeron is cheaper but it is shite compared to the p4.u cant really play games on it or intensive task, only internet browsing and office applications really. i wud reccommend at least a p4
Celerons are P4’s with their ‘wings clipped’ so to speak.
They have lower FSB’s and less L2 cache - often they’re CPU’s which were intended for P4 use but had damaged parts of the cache - they’re sold as Celerons as they can shut off the damaged cache and use only the good cache.
the p4 cost alot more that celeron is like 60 usd and the cheapest p4 was 119
but the celeron will work on that mobo right?
o and i just thought of this my sister just got a new computer and it has xp on it, if it has a recovery disk could i use that to install xp on the new system
