Beef Jerky in UK?

I’ve heard it’s nearly impossible to get beef jerky in the United Kingdom… is this true?

A what?

AT, no it’s not :good:

Although it’s not the type of thing you’ll find in most stores

but it is possible

My local delicatessen where i get lunch has beef jurky - never tried it though.

I couldn’t live in a world without my precious jerky. Pretty expensive though.

I wanna try some but never came across it in the shops

What is it?

As far as I know its smaller pieces of steak

Someone send me some! I’ll swap it for some marmite?! :chk:

lol

from what I gathered off of the simpsons and such like, its thinish strips of tough chewy, salted meat, much like a pepperami, us brits could relate too. Probably taste good with a couple of beers n a rubgy match

It’s strips of beef that’s cured and smoked then seasoned with salt and usually black peppers. It’s salty, yet moist on the inside and slightly chewy.

Sounds nice

it’s a tasty snack, and not all too bad for you

Does sound a lot like pepperami but I bet it’s nicer. On maddox once i saw someone has made a pumpkin out of jerky an it looked mank lol :chk:

Wonder if ya can buy it on the net anywhere.

I’m sure i have seen some in a shop somewhere with some gimic like “REAL AMERICAN BEEF JERKY!!!” lol :chk: Could u imagine in America there being “REAL BRITISH MARMITE!!!” haha

Hahah.. Wow, it seems weird to me that you guys don’t have beef jerky over there. I guess I’ve been taking for granted that our food is straight from the gods :stuck_out_tongue:

Beef jerky is made from thin strips of solid beef, seasoned and dehydrated (not at all like pepperoni). It’s typically dried to between 2 and 10% of the normal moisture found in beef, so it’s tough & leathery. It’s very tasty though, and can be quite addictive. It’s great for trail food, emergency rations, and snacky food in general.

I actually own a dehydrator, so I could make some homemade beef jerky and trade it for some marmite, if anybody’s willing.
