Motherboard PC Chips PM 599LMR
CPU Amd K6 2 500
Bios set to Auto for cpu ie 100 Mhz X 5=500 Mhz
On booy up screen,it states the frequency as 250Mhz,but until recently it showed sometimes 250 and sometimes 500.Now always 250.
Have run AIDA 32 and this also shows it as 250Mhz
I have no AV or Firewall on
Does anyone have any idea whether I can correct this.
Help welcome,on my first forum question.
This may sound off-tangent, but try checking your CMOS Battery Voltage. I encountered a problem similar to this one before, and it turned out that it was only the battery. Manual setting had no effect also. When the battery was replaced, the CMOS started to report proper configurations again. Good luck.
id try reseting your bios so it reconfigures your processor settings and redetects the speed and fsb also try right clicking on 'my computer’and clicking on properties then look at what speed it registering at there if it says 500 i wud not worry about what it registers at it bios. hope this helps Dave :good:
Hi
Have fitted a brand new battery but still have the problem.
Im beginning the think it might(repeat might) have something to do with the memory, any ideas
Go for it dude. As you said, ain’t much to lose anyway. It’s really strange.. As if your 100 Mhz clock is running at only 50 Mhz.. Any jumpers you can fool around with regarding the bus frequency? Try the 66 Mhz setting …
