Boot up bonkers

Yesterday I turned on my computer and did lots of stuff ie(web design, gaming, surfing, music)

Today I turn it on and at the boot up screen the system halts and says this;

Memory frequency for DDR400 specification
Memory frequency: DDR400

(then a list of my drives as normal)

System is running in fail-safe state. Please check - BIOS CMOS SETUP

F1 to continue Del to enter setup.

When i press F1 the systems starts up as normal and seems to run the same as it always has.
Does anyonr know what is going on here? :confused:

Could be the Bios battery, on it’s last legs :sick:

you could reset your cmos either by using the jumpers or just pulling out the battery.

have you changed any bios settings?

check the bios and see if there is any thing that could be doing this, ie is “Quick Boot” activated?

I have’nt change any bios settings and i doubt that it is the battery as it is only about 4 months old.

I have seen new batteries that are bad. bad batteries can cause alot of issues…also check your keyboard, mouse and other hardware to make sure the cords are fully plugged in.

its to do with the RAM, is my guess.

So checking cables won’t do anything :stuck_out_tongue:

Ususlly when the “F1 to continue Del to enter setup” comes up the bios has detected a change in something like the keyboard(could be a stuck key), mouse, the amount of ram lowered,time settings, and a few other odd things.

i did notice that when i entered windows the time was wrong. it had gone back to the 1st of jan 2004 not 2005

I dunno, it sounds like it’s the battery, and as EvoTicTak pointed out, batteries (and other things) can go bad quickly. Just your luck I guess. I’d try a new battery to eliminate that as the problem.

Where could i get one of these battaries?

Go to your electrical store with the battery and see which one matches. I think Focus might do some electronics.
