I installed vista ultimate and now I have trouble with playing cd’s
it is choppy and scratchy on both cd and dvd drives.
It was fine until I installed vista.
I have P4 2.0
200g hd
1g ram
ati hd 2400pro
creative x-fi
ts-h552b dvd-rw
dvd player
I don’t know why it started but it was fine until vista
Is there any help out there?
I might know what the problem is. You need to install ALL your motherboard drivers (primarily your SMBUS drivers). Whats your make and model?
could be driver issues, uninstall your drives from device manager, restart pc and vista will automatically detect the drives and re-install the drivers. See if that fix’s your problem. Also make sure your chipset drivers are installed.
I have a Dell 8200.
Hm, the only drivers i could find are for XP only.
The firmware might still be compatible though so try and upgrade your CD/DVD firmware from this site. Make sure you upgrade the right drive!
You can check which make and model you have by going to device manager.
Thank you, I have tried that and it worked for the dvd player.
I have a TSSTcorp cd/dvdw TS-H552B ata
It works on xp but not with vista? It also takes along time to even
read it blinks at least 2 min before shows I have a disk in the drive.
Thanks

No, it is compatible with vista. I was saying that Dell doesn’t offer Vista drivers for your current model.
Anyways, i still think the best solution would be to update your firmware. Download this and this. Run the “sfdwin.exe” file and open the “TS-H552B_TS12.bin” file with it. Let us know what happens mate!
How do I fill this out?
It wants modle name. old version,( download file,) but it says not open.
status.
The bin file don’t want to open it sak for what file to open with?
No, you need to open the .bin file with the .exe program.
Ok, step by step now:
- Download both the files i linked you and put them both in the any folder, preferably together.
- Open the “sfdnwin.exe” program.
- Once opened, a window will pop up called SFDNWIN. To the top-left you’ll see a button called “Download File Open”. Click it.
- Now, you have to search for the “TS-H552B_TS12” .bin file. Once you’ve located it, double click it.
- Thats it! It should work…
Thank you but I did figured it out. It played a little better but now
it won’t see the disk I put in?
That’s odd…
Just that disk or others too?
Others too.
Microsoft sent me this.

Hm, i think it might also be what i previously stated. I think you might need your Dell motherboard drivers. My drive couldn’t play music cd’s until i realized i had to install my motherboard drivers.
Problem is though i can’t find Vista drivers for you ![]()
I think your right! I have done what Microsoft told me and it seems better but still not they way it should.
Thanks for all your help and if you find the drivers for me please let me
know.
Sure!
Glad i could help out.
