A computer recently came to me that seems to have lost it’s video. I can not see the bios or even post. It’s clear that we have issues with the intergrated video card. I will be trying to reset the bios but if that does not solve my problem than I’m hoping some of you can help me.
I have already tried placing a pci video card into the pc, there is no agp or pci-e slot. No video, therefore I probably have to get into the bios to change the video from agp onboard to pci. Problem is, I can’t even view the bios.
Is there a trick to it or does anyone happen to know how to blindly navigate the bios (machine is 15 years of age from compaq) so I can switch it.
my parents had a similar problem with their comparably-aged Dell. onboard video crapped out, and installing any other means -AGP, PCI- didn’t seem to solve the problem.
out of happenstance, the onboard decided to work one day, and i managed to attempt a few things, but never solved the problem. i told them their problem was that the computer is old and finally died. shrug i told them to get a mac.
if you find a solution, i’d like to hear about it. maybe i can squeeze a few more years out of the thing.
Well resetting bios didn’t work, I’m not even sure it is posting after all. They keyboard lights don’t light up. Is there anything I can do or is it safe to say the pc is dead, time to salvage it>?
