Computer not booting.

I currently own a Acer Inspire 3000. I was not working on the laptop prior to the problem. I take it out of its bag, and try to turn it on. What looks to be the battery light flashed orange a few times and then nothing. I figured it was the battery was dead, but after charging overnight, I still had the same situation. Tried e-mailing Acer itself over a week ago, and still no response from them. Any ideas?

Try running the laptop without the battery just connected to the AC mains and see if it changes anything.

Odd really. Need more information. What were you doing the last time you used the laptop? Any problems then? From the sounds of it, it’s your battery, but why would it just stop working? Could something have happened to it when you weren’t using it?

Sorry, I didn’t make this clear enough. Last time I was using the laptop would have been doing java programming through Eclipse, but that would that was weeks ago. There weren’t any problems then, nor any when I shut it off (I make sure to always shut it off properly). Theoretically something could have happened to it, as I drove with it in my car. However, I didn’t leave it out in my car, and my car is heated. Nothing fell on it either.

Same thing. Not even getting the lights anymore.

Wow..such a strange issue. Obviously, it’s not a battery issue, and it seems unlikely that something happened A) While you weren’t using it B) During your last use. I can’t suggest anything. If it were a desktop, you could try fiddling with the hardware (it seems like a hardware issue). But unfortunately, laptops are horribly unfixable hardware-wise. I don’t know what to say. Wait until your company gets back to you and see what they say. Sorry I couldn’t help more, though I would be interested to hear what they say. Post when you get a response.

Yeah, I’m well aware of that. That’s why I tend to use my desktop :stuck_out_tongue: If something goes wrong, I know how to tear it apart and figure out what’s not working. As demonstrated… I have no idea what to do with a laptop.

That’s my only gripe with laptops…they’re damn hard to upgrade/take apart. RAM seems to be one of the components that can be tinkered with (sigh..). And laptop sales were higher than desktop sales last year. People are nuts.

Thanks for all the help. In closing:

I hate two part power cables. That is all.
