Computer takes 3 hours to boot, motherboard??

I have a Dell Dimension 4400 that hasn’t been modified in any way other than me replacing the cd rom drive with a dvd drive. The past week when i boot it up it takes about 3 hours to start. For most the 3 hours it just sits there with the Dell splash screen. Wondering if maybe it could be the motherboard?

try resetting cmos
make sure all cards/devices are seated properly in the motherboard

does it reach the POST (a beep shortly after you turn on) if so, when ?
