All of a sudden, my computer refused to download attachments from Hotmail. At the same time, it wouldn’t let me access certain areas of various sites. Eg. it won’t let me log on to Barclays internet banking, upload any pictures on ebay, or email ebay.
I then downloaded ‘super anti spyware’ which revealed loads of spyware / addware and a couple of trojans. Since then, i have now been able to download attachments in hotmail, but i am still restricted in accessing sites like ebay and barclays.
Any help would be much appreciated, i have researched my butt off, and have no hair left to pull out!
Browse to the folder C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Right-click on the HOSTS file and choose Open. Choose Notepad as the program you would like to open it with. Then copy the contents of that file, and paste it here.
Firstly can i just say how much i appreciate your help. I have never used a forum before, and am very surprised at how fast you replied.
I followed out your instructions, but there was so much information in the host file (i mean pages and pages and pages of the stuff). I pasted it here, but it didnt send (i think there was too much information)
So im going to see if i can just post part of it to see if it is what you are looking for…

Just to let any readers know that i changed my browser to fire fox…and it worked a dream. Everythings back to normal, better even. Firefox is so much faster than my previous browser, so if anyones having similar problems, give this a try.
