Okay, so I fix computers and it’s only every now and then I run into something beyond me. Unfortunately, I seem to have.
This computer was given to me exhibiting the Blue Screen of Death. The PC’d never been wiped and desperately needs it, so I decide that will be what I do. BUT, the monitor cord the guy gave me had a short in the power supply portion. So he gives me another cord, and now the monitor does the No Signal thing and just turns off.
Sometimes I get power to the hard disk, sometimes I don’t. The power system of the computer doesn’t turn on/off like it’s supposed to, you have to fiddle with it.
All in all it seems like a power supply problem to me, but I always hesitate to diagnose those myself due to their very nature – random, unpredictable, and always different.
Any thoughts? (I’d love to give you some more info, but I don’t have that much myself. It’s a Dimension 2400 w/ a Sylvania-based monitor)
