CPU question

Its here, finally, the motherboard/cpu/ram bundle i ordered on tue has arrived, parcelforce just dropped it off moments ago.

I examined the kit and everything is fine except for the cooling unit for the processor. Is it supposed to look like this? The processor is a amd 64 althon 4400+ x2 dual core processor.

If you look closely at the copper coloured tubes sticking out of it, on this side they look like 2 have been chopped off, is this right? or is this the way its supposed to be?

And here is a shot from the other side.

Sorry for the poor quality images.

Looks fine to me!

Its just weird seeing 4 tubes but only two of them go around the thing, then what is the purpose of the 2 shorter ones?

No idea, hopefully someone with A64 experience will advise!

Looks like a heatpipe implementation to me, which helps in the disappation of heat—always a good thing.

Big B is spot on,

exactly the same as mine, works like a dream, have to check it’s running sometimes, it’s so cool (relativly)

my only complaint it looks a bit naff thru my sound window, after a zalman flower, expensive but mmmmmmm…
