does gx280 motherboard supports pentium d processor????

i have bios updated to “A03” and i have a pentium d processor…it will support my motherboard or not???

Yes, But it depends on the size and the socket you have..

how to check socket and size?

You need to know what Motherboard you have and the socket, This will let you know on what processor’s will work… Download a program called Everest, It is a identifer software.. Is this a DELL GX280 ?

yes this is gx280…

Is it a Tower or Desktop Or small form factor ? It looks like a 775 socket.. What size is your processor now..??

Ok, 3.2 Ghz, And what size do you want to install ??

i want to install pentium d 3.4ghz with 4mb cache…

It should work, just as long that the 3.4 ghz is a 775 socket… Let me look..

Suppose if use this processor on my board and its not supported does it will hurt my pc ???

Your Motherboard is a LGA-775 socket and it says it will support CPU’s up to 3.8.., But It will have to be for 775 socket…
May I ask why do you want to upgrade to the 3.4 ghz ? I don’t think you will notice any difference.. How much ram do you have ?

What does it say on the CPU, give me some info from the chip…
