Hi all,
After searching the net for hours and trying almost every method possible to install DSL on my 512MB pen drive, nothing has worked
Every time i do and boot from the drive, i just get black screen with 'SYSLINUX (2005-06-06) etc… and nothing else, it stays there.
Has anyone got a foolproof way that actually works so i can get DSL on my pen drive please?
Already tried that AT
When i do it, it says it needs access to the net
to get some missing software or something. And becuase my integrated
network card isn’t supported, that’s a no go.
USB Drive on a watch… they wearnt cheap, but to have an OS handy (sorry, bad joke…) would be quite useful! [it also wouldnt look as suspicious as a bootable CD… not that i use them at school :D]
[ot]I recently found out that our IT department had been lying to us. It was very hurtful. They told us that the terminals didn’t have hard disks. So its a bit strange when I try to boot linux from a CD and windows boots, when the network cable is unplugged!!![/ot]

If your looking for some kind of ‘revenge’ [:P] the laser printers that most schools have normally support ftp printing! if you send files directly to the printer they skip the printQ and cant be canceled from the admin s/w [normally]
So if your looking for idears for ‘muckup day’ (the last day of school ever for people leaving, we muck things up :P) you could build a list of all the printers with ftp access in the school (using nmap, instructions on irongeek.com under hacking network printers) and transfer 1000’s of documents to each one!
Or create a DOS by changing the printers IP to that of the proxy server (most lasers also have web or telnet access, and there rarely passworded :P) which creates problems instantly! (worked quite well at my school, no1 had net access for a good 5 mins before something sorted it)
These are of course just idears for you to write an interesting story with in your spare time, i would never sugegst you do any of the things above! (cough).
PS with the ftp printing, its best to transfer 1000 one page documents, rather than one 1000 page document as they can just push cancel once on the printer!!
