My first thought would be to make sure the on-board sound is enabled in BIOS.

That will be the one, I take it you are still having difficulty even when this is “enabled”?

Try going to device manager… Start, right click on My Computer, properties, Hardware tab then device manager.

Are there any yellow exclamation marks under the sound, video and game controllers section? If so try double clicking on the part with the exclamation mark and direct the drivers install wizard to your cd rom.

Is your soundcard detected in device manager? If it is try reinstalling the drivers by double clicking on it and clicking on update driver.

ok. i took the PC to the compney, and i just needed to install a patch that fix the driver with the xp…
