have two PCI slots in my motherboard, soundcard was using one and one was free, today i bought firewire card and it didnt work when i put it into second slot i thought may be slot problem i changed slot and put soundcard aside then fiwirewere worked… then i checked it on 2nd slot its worked there too .. now they are working alone in both slots, but not together …
i read sm were its irq issue
i tried acpi driver to standard .. n its screwed up so got restored in safe mode..
and one more thing i have one tv tuner card also… so i tried it with firewire 1st and it waf working fine and then with sound card.. and again its working fine but firewire and soundcard not working together…

one more update.. i took my soundcard and firewire and tried it to my frnd pc .. and they both worked together without any problem.. but i dont know why its not working in my pc.. whenever i use them both together and starts my pcits just hangs on very first bois screen… plzz help!!

Are you able to get into the BIOS with both cards installed? Does windows start to load and then freeze up or is it when the computer first starts, such as during the memory test portion or hardware detection phase? Maybe try disconnecting all other peripherals and drives, leave only 1 stick of RAM in with both the sound card and firewire card installed to see if it will make it past POST and look for an operating system. If it doesnt, then I would say it has nothing to do with windows or windows device manager, and is more to do with the system board and BIOS. Do you have the same motherboard as your friend who was able to use them successfully? Are there any settings in your BIOS that have to do with IRQ that are changeable in your particular BIOS? I’m wondering if you have an older board if it is having issues with these newer devices, meaning it thinks they all want the same system resources whereas a newer board might be able to just reallocate the resources as needed?

Also, most older cards and even some newer ones have jumpers on them which used to allow the changing of IRQs and resources for the card to use. Do your cards have any jumpers on them that allow this? It would be with the owner’s manual or on the manufacturer’s website.

i bought my pc in 2004-2005 my mother boadr is D946GZIS
my friend mother board is not same as mine one…
when i use both cards together it stuk before anything happen, in very first screen i think its bios screen and it has a intel mark .. and its just hangs nothings works keyboard stucks and no i am not able to go in bois settings..
when i use either one card only every things works fine and i am able to go to bois settings.. and windows
i was using win xp thought may be .01% it could be windows, then i formatted it and now im in win 7 but problem is same..
and i can’not find any settings regarding irq in any where in bios.. neither there is any jumper with card but i called one professional he took cd rom jumper and placed it near card.. he was in little hurry so he went after one two tries..
