Hi,
I have an Audigy X gamer. Unfortunately i have lost its game port extension and looking to buy another one. I am not able to find a similar one on the internet. The following link shows the picture of the game port:
I went to the creative website. The have an accessories catagory but the extension over there is quite different then the one i need. The following is link to it
It is an MIDI Adapter and it can only be used if i have and MIDI device (like a keyboard). Secondly the extension which is required should have female connector on both ends.
As far as the gameport header goes, this [Newegg.com] one is fairly generic, and may work with your sound card. You would have to mount it on an empty serial header on your ATX chassis rather than in a PCI bay, but I actually think that’d be nicer anyway. If you don’t want to take the risk that the pinout could be different, I’d just grab a cheap MIDI controller, such as this [Newegg.com] one. Then just use the Audigy for sound and the MIDI controller for MIDI only.
BTW, what do you need the gameport for? If it’s for a joystick, you might just consider picking up a USB joystick instead. They’re much more responsive anyway, as USB has massively larger bandwidth than a MIDI port. Also, it’d be a lot less hassle in the end. To soften the blow, you could always sell your old joystick to somebody who does have a working gameport, and you wouldn’t be out too much cash …if you wanted the game port for a joystick, that is.
