I really need a new videocard cuze this one is getting old
So I was surfing some sites and then I saw the GF FX5200 for only 100 euro, at first I thought it was some typo but it wasnt in fact many shops selled it
I looked for reviews and saw that this card is fully DirectX 9 compatible and supossed to be the new low budget card from Nvidia and its gets like 10000 3dmarks
So should I buy it and wich should I buyā¦
Point of View Nvidia Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR - 101 euro
Club3D GeForceFX 5200 128MB DDR - 104 euro
Chaintech GeForce FX5200 (retail) - 119 euro
it beats the gf 4600 in some benchmarks and that one is atleast twice as expensive⦠so whats the catch ??
Is this card really as good as it suposed to be, I saw the gf 2 400mx for 69 euro and its like atleast 4 times as bad as the FX5200 and ONLY 30 euro cheaper
Well for $200 cad (which is 100 euro), at my local shop, I can get a GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb tv out 8x OEM.
On the net, you can have the FX for $99 usd, which is a bit cheaper than yours, but they only ship to the us. And even so, with the shipping cost, it would become more expensive.
So basically, you seem to have found a great deal !
A GeForce2 MX400 for 69 euro is a steal !!!
Donāt even touch it.
Donāt even look at it.
And donāt even think about it.
Iām not sure which brand you should buy though, I know nothing about that.
āHere at GDC, Iāve never seen game developers so excited,ā he says. āImagine being able to run Doom III on a $99 card.ā
so this card is verry good for its price
I read on some site this:
AGP 8X double the bandwidth of AGP 4Xā2.1GB/sec. vs. 1.1BG/sec. AGP 8X enables more complex models and detailed textures, creating richer and more lifelike environments
is that really true ?
cuze I thought agp 8x wasnt all that important.
It sucks I cant find a pic of the club 3d and the point of view card cuze maybe one of them doesnt have a fan and then it will be that one that im gonna buy
I still find it strange that a $100 card beats a $200 card, I mean is Nvidia stupid, nobody is gonna buy a gf 4 now specially the mx cards
AGP 8x isnāt important. Right now, itās a marketing technique more than anything else. However, in the future itāll be nice to have when we can actually saturate AGP bus enough to require AGP 8x. Also, you might want to check out the preview of the FX 5600 Ultra and 5200 Ultra cards: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDQ0LDE= .
Probably will be fixed by a driver eventually, but youāve got a Ti4200 compteting rather well with these cards. My personal opinion is to look at an ATi 9500/Pro or a Ti4200. The FX family seems to be a real disappointment. DX9 is nice, but nVidia has some work to do.
personally i havenāt heard anyone talking about those firms, except chaintech. this is my recommandation from the producers.
and if you do trust what says on websites (and i dont see why you shouldnt trust), then buy it.
and afterwards share some scores from 3dmarks.
allright Iām not gonna buy it(after reading that review, thx Big B) I think I rather buy a readon 9500 like Big B said
Is the diference between pro and non pro big?
cuze the price sure is, the pro is 80 euro more expensive
if it really is better I think I save my cash for a pro
many ppl say whats the use of a dx 9 if the card cant even be fully played using the dx 9 features :blah:
oh and Skaeleen Iām sure it would be better then the gf4 440mx and even so that one is dx 7
The price difference isnāt that big. Itās under $50USD, and thatās at the most. Price depends on who makes the card, and the RAM size. The Pro has a faster clock speed also.
hmm I think I looked at the wrong mainfactuur cuze I found a other wich had $25 diference between pro and non pro
do u got any advice about wich mainfactuur;
they sell these 9500 proās:
club 3d
connect 3d
FIC (unkown to meā¦)
Gigabyte
Hercules
Hightech
Point of view
Sapphire
but not even ATI built
I prob gonna buy it in a few weeks cuze Iām kinda short on money now
but Im sure Iām not gonna buy a nvidia
Sapphire is one of the big cheeses in the Radeon market, and Iād probably go for them. Of all the companies listed, Iād personally go with Hercules. Itās probably the most expensive one, but their quality and service (if you happen to need it) are impeccable. FICās motherboards didnāt impress me, and I really havenāt heard anything regarding their cards to make any accurate judgement. Gigabyte has a pretty good name under them, but I havenāt tried anything that recent to give a good clue at where to go.
Iād chose between Sapphire and Hercules. The Sapphire card is about as close as youāll come to an ATi card, FYI.

yet again, iām close to almost 100% correct, they are the same POS cards they will be dead within the next month, they suck.
Oh, and at this point, all GFFX cards apparently have overclocking locked out via the VGA BIOS. Unless some company starts flashing the FX cards with a BIOS that circumvents the anti-overclocking stuff, you canāt get around it. Iām sure thatāll happen, as ATiās tried the same thing with the 9500Pro and 9700 (non-pro) cards. Some companies havenāt been shipping their BIOS with overclocking fudged, and users are flashing their BIOSās to OC.
Wow Skaeleen thx for giving me that link now Iām really sure im not gonna buy that crappy card
And I cant even overclock it
Damn is it me or is ATI way better then NVIDIA
