Acouple days ago my screen went black and i had to restart the computer manually. Device manager said Nvidia 8500 GT had some Code error, so i uninstalled that yada yada I reformatted and reinstalled vista. Same problem. I tried doing a fresh install of drivers in safe mode and what not, still crashing. Just now i used HWMonitor and it said my gfx card temp was 70C, that was with just the desktop running.
So i’m thinking the fan is broken or the card is damaged. Either way i have warranty. Is this the problem?
*also the temp for the cores were at 68-72 degrees celsius
is device manager still reporting an error with your graphics card even when you tried re-installing drivers? if so your card is faulty. 68-72C is that the cards Idle temp?
You presume he has a faulty card because his device manager reports an error. The error could be overheating. You can not make these assumptions without knowing more info. Yes, he may have a faulty card but you don’t know that.
@Flare most likely your psu is underpowered therefore making your card overheat. Whats the brand and wattage?
