Hard disk Not working

I am using a amd duron 800mhz with asus mb. hdd is 40gb seagate . I was working file with my pc till last week . When my friend connected his hdd as slave to my pc hdd crashed and after that i am not able to boot up. When i tried to repartition the hdd fdisk hangs after 20% . When i use Partition magic it is not responding at all. Hdd contains no bad sectors. Seagate disk wizard also not working. wat should be the problem . How can i solve that. If some one could help me i will be thankfull . this is my first posting on this site

Assuming you’ve removed your friends HDD, I’d run [google]Memtest[/google] to check that your RAM isn’t borked.

ram is working fine. The problem is with the hdd itself. When i check the hdd some of the sectors is not able to access.

One thing to check is your data cables…if they aren’t plugged in fully or have some bent pins—either on the drive or on the motherboard—that can cause all sorts of hell.
