Hard drive "dies"

Hi!

Ive bought WD 200GB 1st gen hard drive and after the time i got read errors,blue screens and ive figured out that it has bad sectors.I sent the HDD back and got new one.The 2nd was working good for some period of time then it wasnt able to boot up wins and it “died”.

That was the 2nd HDD dammit!

I started to think if my PC is ok…

1.Can I have screwed up power supply(NOTE:I have 20gb ata disk on SAME configuration and no problems after few yers)?

2.If sata cable is damaged, can it damage HDD?

very unlikley, never had a PSU kill a HDD (i think) usually HDD’s die when dropped (from about 1 metre or more)

possible but very very unlikley, if cable is dammaged just replace cable, although i’ve never used SATA myself
