i am doing lots of chkdsk in XP and BartPE and now i BartPE, i don’t get any errors - for the last time i tried but in XP i do…
i get things like:

do u guys think its a software problem or hardware problem and why? i still has HP warranty but they will probably take it back right?
for your info, this is fixed from a once unbootable partition, marked as BAD in Partition Magic (so refuses to resize/delete/format until i did a /ipe switch in partition magic) but fixed using a low level format - dunno if this didn’t really fix it…
hey found out something! :eek: when i restore this Acronis Image on another partition (E:), the same thing happens! but ONLY when the XP is loaded, when i do a scan disk on the original corrupt XP (C:) (i restored my Acronis Image on another partition w/o touching the original), no errors!
so i can conclude that if i reinstall every thing from scratch, there shouldn’t be a problem?
and do u think that its the acronis image got corrupt after it was made? cos i did a validate archive wo issues. but i think b4 i create the image, there didn’t seem o have any problems with the HDD…
This is just the problem that I had after installing Vista on a partition made by Acronis Disk Director. I think that the partition is corrupted. I would suggest to remove all partitions. Then commit all changes and then re-create the partitions.

the “/ipe” switch only ignores errors, and should only be used to fix errors once per error
low level format no longer exists, quite a few HWF users have complained about PM before Symantec took it over in about 2k3, Symantec believe they know best and recompile any software they buy (which is not a good thing)
can you erase all partitions from the HDD & clean install XP to an NTFS partition ?
yes, if you reinstall XP to an unformatted HDD for testing purposes
no, from my experience, when i used Windoze Acronis products were superior to most others
just when i thought all is well, a check disk shows that its not… the message is shorter though… only the volume bitmap part, whats it actually? think i will send to HP to repair … is there a CHKDSK reference? to tell me what the messages mean?

on a clean XP install = no problems
on this clean install, install Firefox = no problems
use firefox = MFT problems appear
surf, i think so that cache fills = deleting indexes…
do u ppl using firefox have this problem also?
on another comp, with Firefox installed also i also have the same problem
Enter the following command in command prompt: chkdsk C: /f You can replace C: with the letter of the drive you want to scan. The /F parameter gives chkdsk the permission to make repairs. You might see the message about scanning at reboot, so enter Y for yes. Then reboot. The disk will then be scanned and repaired.
Yea I got firefox, and it appears I have an almost similar issue:

edit: I executed chkdsk on multiple computers that have firefox installed. And I can see index errors linked to firefox files, and there are problems with the MFT. I think this is a bug in Firefox, and I’ll report that to Mozilla.
