my firewall isnt working right and is letting connections start a startup i checked the log and it blocks many etemps then lets 2 connect and my router starts blinking like im downloading when i restarted the first time it asked to let a program connect and i said no then looking a the log there was a program named n/a attempeding to connect ot ports like 33000 and other ports i never use
im useing lavasoft personal firewall professional and its not trial
also i uploaded 2 txt files becuase the blocked port/ip list is way to long
If your wanting to capture packets coming from the machine @ startup run ethereal on another machine, you will ether have to have both machines on a hub (not a switch, as packet switching means you only get traffic with your address on it sent down your wire) or use ettercap to posinin the ARP cache of your “suspect” machine (means the traffic from your suspect machine will be routed through the investigating machine, ettercap allows you sniff on packet switched networks)
is there no way of just stoping it or how about a diffrent firewall i would like to have it block anything then every time a program asks to uyse hte internet i give it for each program that way i know whats getting on or not o and my router has a hardware firewall why is this not stoping it
Download Sygate Personal Firewall, disable your Internet Connection (Start > My Network Places > View Network Connections), then Uninstall Lavasoft Personal Firewall Professional from your computer.
Install Sygate make any necessary reboot’s and when you logon, if any malicious files are trying to access a remote machine (vice versa), you can look at them In more detail, and report them here.
Or, If you switch to linux you wont have to worry about malware! (and the firewall is part of the kernal!!! :D)
You can install ubuntu in under and hour & run automatix after to install any extra’s you mich need in about the same (mp3 & dvd codecs, P2P apps etc) but most general use things such as word processors are allready installed!
yea i want linux i have a ubuntu cd but no computer to put it on i tried a 2nd hardrive with xubuntu but a error came up when trying to boot from drive im thinking about getting a cheap barebone system to test lunix out and get used to it before i put it on my good computer or i might make a server with it i do hate windows micr$oft and bill gates for makeing windows o and dell becuase they suck
becuase i just started a new topic on it im doing “testing” or more like controled destruction it will get desroyed just a matter of time might need a hammer for it
I am testing that same firewall right now and it seems to be very good.
Have you tried to just reinstall it? After i install ANY firewall I would test
each and everyone at Gibson’s Research with Shields Up.
Lavasoft firewall passed all the test,So i would reinstall it and try it again.
Cheers mate! actually I changed it coz admins doesnt like the big signature and it doesnt looks good in small size but if you insists then I think that I’ve to go with it…
