help... memory question

motherboard: Intel D975XBX2
processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz, 1066Mhz FSB

question:

i want 2GB non-ecc memory. im told so many different things, i just need a straight answer…

the latest i was tiold is that i dont want any memory faster than 533Mhz even though the board supports 800Mhz… this is because the system bus runs at 1066 so anything more than 533 is wasted… is this a fact?

and also, do i want 2 chips or 4 for best performance?

the following link shows all available memory for this board… can someone just tell me what to get so i can put an end to this? LOL

RAM faster than 533mhz wont be a waste! DDR2 is 1.5 times faster than DDR533!
Data is transferred to and from the RAM and CPU and if the RAM is transferring slower than the CPU then the CPU will get held up. (Bottlenecking)
You will get up to 4.2GB/s of transfer with the 533mhz RAM but 6.4GB/s with 800mhz RAM. Plus being dual channel thats 12.8GB/s compared to 8.4GB/s.

Id get the 800mhz RAM.

Two modules would be better than one because you have a dual channel motherboard.
