no, i want to change a partition from
e.g. say hda10 to hdax
The /dev placement is their physical placement as relative to the current / partition. You can’t change it, because that’s how the OS sees it. Besides, why would you want to? What’s important to you should be where it’s mounted, which you can change easily.

well if you look at the original pic, hda10 is placed between hda1 and hda5, because is was the last partition i created, but i would like to call it hda[COLOR=“Red”]x, but if it’s not possible, i’ll just have to live with it.
Yeah, it’s not possible that I know of, but if it is I’m pretty sure it’s not worth the effort. Like I said, what’s important is where it’s mounted. The /dev/ part is just the physical location.
