my friends seem to dismiss claims that the PS3 cell cpu isn’t that good. infact they say its not much better than the xbox and everyday pc cpus, i read that the ps3 (or the cell itself) will be in the top 50 supercomputers (even tho ps3 may be using traditional ati gpu, (but i could be wrong)).. ive also read that the cell may be introduced into PCs as a new irea

the PS3 is going to slap the xbox360 around, just i (think) the wii will slap the ps3 around
Compared to everyday pcs the cell technology has 234 million transistors (im behind the times and dont know what the newest cpu have but I know the Prescott E has 124million) It can transfer data to memory at 100gb/s compared to 10.6 is it with the 1066FSB. Also 256billion calculations a second!
The BBC website says it runs 10 times quicker than current CPUs.
Ive just found out the PS3 uses rambus too! I thought that was dead and burried.
The PS3 is all new to me, Ive not bothered looking at it untill and hour ago. I get the impression its basically a reworked PowerPC?
according to a certain website (the register prob) the ps3 is NOT much better than the xbox.. which i fail to believe since the absense of the cell.
oh and the ps3 wont be out this xmas :doh: WOT ARE THEY :swear: PLAYIN AT!!
