HP cd-+rw/dvd-rom does not read disc's

but it writes them just fine
I have tried reinstalling drivers and software but it doesn’t seem to help

any thoughts

it will at times read a factory made disc but usualy not even those

Assuming you are using windows XP try this - ForceASPI
