HP Pavilion 791.nl cpu upgrade

Hi, guys.

I have have a standard HP desktop pc, and I was already thinking about buying a new pc. Because I always thought that factory pc’s had a fixed cpu. I heard a computer technician at work say that maybe I CAN upgrade my cpu.

The only problem is that I have no idea on where I am supposed to look further, this is all the info I could find. And the HP site doesn’t mention a lot about upgrading your cpu

Any help is very appreciated, if changing the cpu isn’t possible I’ll have to start thinking about a new comp after all.

im not sure if you can because i know that for my computer it isnt possible at all (the furthest i got was overclocking it .04ghz) what kinda budget would you want to spend for the upgrade and wat wud you want this to be able to handle?

It’s only mentioning support for the Willamette core…which was the earliest core for the P4…the crappiest one (arguably). Since it does use a socket 478, you might have a shot at going up to a 2.4GHz P4 (with a 400MHz FSB). This would depend on if the BIOS supports it and if the motherboard has a 24x CPU multiplier or not.
