WE’RE GRATEFUL to reader Sal for sending us a snap of a picture he took of a BT Payphone the other day.

Stepping up to the phone, he noticed that someone had succeeded by chance, or by accident, in getting past the “graphical user interface” to a level where he was invited to perform a low level format on the hard drive.

Pesky things, these hard drives. We’re unclear if mouse or arrow key support was still enabled, in order to perform the format. µ

  • THE SAME reader wrote after he saw the article: “I can confirm that the keyboard worked exactly as you would expect it to! I was able to press the arrow keys and for example the ‘Y’ key as in Yes I really do want to low-level format that hard-drive.”

I haven’t seen a payphone in atleast a year.

Lol thats bad we have them in places like service stations and town centres but there arnt as many as there used to be
