my computer is so slow in (copy and paste) i dont know why and my friends told me that this is from my hard drive

please anyone tell me what to do to make it faster
i want to solve this problem or is there any option to make my harddisk faster
“My computer is running slow” is from experience about as vague as complaints get. There are probably dozens of reasons why that could be happening and without knowing much about your hardware then it’s hard to make any kind of sensible diagnosis. However if you could answer the following questions then that would help a lot.
What OS are you using?
Have you done a recent defrag of your hard-drive?
Is the whole computer slow or is it just certain applications?
Is it always slow or only after its been on for a while?
Do you have good anti-virus and anti-spyware programs installed and have you done a full scan recently?
Do you have a lot of programs installed that you don’t use or need?
Are you using IE and do you allow all cookies to be installed?
Do you use any applications that regularly crash?
Generally when I’m asked to fix a computer that is running slow I don’t bother trying to find out why but just remove any unused programs, delete all the porn site cookies, run a full defrag, anti-virus scan and anti-spyware scan, and install Firefox as the default browser and that usually makes a huge difference. It could be a hardware issue but I’ve rarely found that to be the case, try the checklist above and see how it goes.
am using windows xp media center edition ,i didnt make any defrag,the problem in copy/cut paste only,always slow,mcafee antivirus 10.0.0.21 and personal firewall 7.0.0.150,i have few programs,no,no
I’d run a good defrag then see where things lie. Afterwords, hit up Windows update and download the critical updates and anything that looks like it may address the problem.
