How do I know what type of psu will work with the rest of my setup? I have an asus P5 S800-VM S, with a pentium 4 3.06 ghw. I don’t really need to know about power reqiuirements and stuff I just don’t know how to find out whether my motherboard runs atx, atx2 or whatever other options there are.
Any help is much apreciated.

Any PSU with a 20 pin ATX supply will work.
Avoid cheapo power supplies though, they tend to be more trouble than they are worth!
Go with a name brand such as Antec, and Enermax. Make sure you buy a minimum PSU of 450W. Oh and make sure it has the extra 4 pin 12V connectors.
So anything other than a 20 pin psu wont work? How do I find out if I can use an atx 2.0? I’m currently planning on getting a FSP Sparkle ATX-400PNF 400W ATX2.0 PSU (CA-006-SK) if this will work with my setup… I know it’s only 400 but its cheap and its a decent brand!
ATX2.0 requires a 24 pin connector if I’m not mistaken.
FSP/Sparkle/Fortron…it’s the same company, but regardless, they make some nice, yet surprisingly inexpensive PSU’s. That unit you’re asking about has some nice specs to it, and I really doubt you’ll be disappointed. The specs it has could allow it to be sold as a 500W+ unit and still be fine, so the 400 or 450 PN(F) units are great.
