Ive just been a bit hasty on ebay and bought a faulty laptop!
Apparently every now and then it turns itself off and wont turn back on. The seller then takes it to the ibook people who then do a hard reset which brings it back to life.
Quite a few faulty ibooks on ebay seem to have an over heating problem so hopefully this is the case here… we will see.
My reason for posting is to ask what a hard reset actually does?
I intend to install xubuntu… (possibly a dual boot) Will a hard reset be possible with ubuntu or is a software reset which happens to be called a hard reset?

G4, 1200mhz, 1256mb RAM, 30gb HDD for £130. Ill get more than that if I resell so its a worthy gamble for an expensive laptop.
