I am building a new PC that is in a 2U rack mounted case. It’s in a small rack that has two routers and two switches hung in it as well. I’m studying for my CCNA and wanted a lab that I didn’t have to set up and tear down every time I wanted to work with it.
The case came with a slot only for a slim DVD and not a full size one. I bought the slim DVD and it’s exactly what would go into a laptop. All the illustrations show that the connector is an IDE/PATA type. I cannot find a cable that will connect this to my mobo’s IDE or SATA connectors. Can anybody tell me how to connect to this drive to either an IDE or SATA connector?
Thanks
Jim
PS - I attached a photo of the connector on the DVD itself. Thanks agian.
the device connects to the adaptor and the adaptor connects to the IDE channel (the same cable as the HDD) because the device was designed for a laptop, laptops with a CD / DVD drive connect via this connector automatically when the device is inserted
BTW: it’s IDE
approximately where do live in the US, so, i can find an adaptor available locally to you ?
Genius! Now why didn’t NewEgg know about those? That offers the IDE plug but does it power it too. The slim DVD only has the one connector? I’m outside of Dallas.
Thanks for the help. I wish I had started here first trying to figure this one out.
