Installing IE 8 Beta 2

Hi all,

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I amt thinking of installing IE 8 because frankly its a huge improvement over IE 7 especailly in terms of security…

anyways, I was just wandering, because it is a beta, do I need to uninstall my existing IE 7 which came installed with my OS (there are to versions 32 and 64bit)?? or can I just go right ahead and download and install IE 8 and not have to worry about anything??

P.s. I will be getting IE 8 vista 64bit edition.

Thanks for the help all.

The installation of IE8 will upgrade IE7. So you don’t need to uninstall an existing version of IE.

ok cool thanks, so all i need to do is download IE 8 (64bit edition) and then I can install it and I should be able to use it from then on?

Can I ask if you know anything about IE 8? I mean, i’ve been doing some research and it seems pretty good and a definite improvement over IE 7, but what do u think? do you reccomend getting it, or should I wait for the RC or final public release?

I haven’t used it yet, because I don’t have a computer with Windows on it here. But because IE is a critical part of Windows, I’d suggest to not install a beta version on a critical computer, but to install it inside a virtual machine instead.

ok i guess i’ll wait for the public final release, i may try it out on a virtual machine like you said though - thanks for the help dude!

sure no problem
