Doing a total overhaul on my gaming rig and would like to know if this is a good start for a quality gaming PC. Have yet to decide what video card to purchase but I do plan on taking advantage of the SLI on the mobo so any suggestions would help me out alot. The power supply is temporary as the reviews on Newegg worry me. Ultimate goal is to build a machine capable of running Crysis on max as it seems to be a good benchmark to go by nowadays. This is my first attempt at basically building from the ground up so any pointers or helpful links would be appreciated:D. The average I’m willing to spend per part is about $100-$200 but I am willing to splurge if necessary.
it seems ok. personally i wouldn’t go for nvidia chipset or gfx card. I reckon you could get a better mobo for the money - faster fsb and memory bus to make your pc more upgradable in the future. i got an asus p5q-e which goes up to 1600MHz fsb, 1200MHz memory bus and a max of 16GB of memory - compare these figures to the ones on the board you suggested. i’m not sure how good the psu your suggesting is but i would recommend something like a 750W corsair if your planning on going SLi or crossfire.
another thing is to make absolutely sure that the memory your getting is fully compatible with the mobo by looking at a qualified vendor list. even though it may look ok on paper some memory modules will not work that well with some chipsets
