LAN Problems! help!!

Hey all i recently re built my pc due to motherboard failure. I currently have the ASROCK P45TS Motherboard. Alls working fine apart from a few issues. I overclocked the cpu Q6600 GO kentfield to 3ghz, fsb 1333mhz, ran prime 95 and sisoft sandra its all good, runs windows perfect, games, no crashes etc.

Operating system: windows xp 32bit sp3

Issue 1: when i first turn on my pc from cold it boots into windows and there is no network connections just blank, it doesn’t pick up my Realtek NIC even in device manager. But when i restart the pc it appears in network connections and device manager and works perfect wtf?

I’ve tried re-installing the lan drivers still the same.

could this be a bios fault? or driver fault? even an overclock fault?

Issue 2: I’ve installed the audio drivers for my Realtek HD Audio, everytime i boot windows it comes up sayin I havn’t installed drivers for microsoft uaa bus drivers for hd audio. the audio works fine by the way. just wanna try and stop it from coming up everytime i boot. any help would be much apreciated. thanks bobby

Try setting the CPU speed back to default, as it could be causing unknown issues. I’d suggest updating the BIOS.

In regards to the driver issue with Realtek HD Audio, does it appear under device manager? Also have you installed the chipset drivers?

hi thanks for your reply. yea i think im gonna update the bios see if that fix’s my lan problem.

the hd audio doesn’t appear in device manager, it just pops up everytime i boot, theres no yellow exclamation marks in device manager what so ever. yea all chipset drivers are installed INF drivers.

oh yea another thing i forgot to mention, when i re built my pc with the new Asrock p45ts motherboard, i didn’t format the hard drive, so it had the old motherboards chipset drivers on the hard drive, i just uninstalled them and installed the asrock p45ts mobo drivers. could this also effect the lan problem possibly? thanks

Also today when i booted up from cold. the realtek Nic was there i didnt have to restart the pc.

ahhhh, that might explain things! usually people just clean install after changing motherboards, I can see it causing unforeseen errors, like yours.

So i’d suggest a clean install.

Oh yeah, that’s what I’ve also heard people say. With windows, at least, switching MoBo’s means you should reinstall Win.

You can use the Windows System Preparation Tool (download from MS) to strip out the old driver entries from the registry before booting on a new mobo. It doesn’t always work (what do you expect from Microsoft?), but that’s the official way to migrate to a new motherboard. Still, if it was me, I’d backup my data under the assumption that Windows will bluescreen on boot – and then be pleasantly surprised if it actually works as advertised. :slight_smile: Also, you’ll probably have to deal with reactivating Windows once the motherboard changes, so don’t be surprised by that either.

Hi, all thought I would let you know what the problem was, It just need a bios update because it wasn’t detecting the LAN controller from cold turn on. Now all fine, so if anyone else comes across this problem, theres ya answer :slight_smile:
