Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Memory Problem

I am trying to install four identical “Crucial” 1Gb DDR PC3200.
My system runs happily with two modules installed in banks 2 & 4 but won’t boot with any modules in banks 1 and/or 3.

The manual advises when using banks 1 & 3 to " Change SPD from 1T to 2T " but I can’t find find any reference to “SPD” in the bios settings.
I wanted lots of memory for extra large graphic files, otherwise I was quite happy with the performance with 2gb.

Can anyone advise?

My system comprises of:-
Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR
Toledo Athlon64 Dual Core 4400+
Gainward NvideaGF 6600GT G/S 128mb
Maxtor Diamond Max Plus9 160gb SATA-150

I take it as that means change the CAS latency to 2T. OK what you should try is booting up with the modules that work in the banks, and going into the BIOS. Find advanced chipset features or a section dedicated to RAM. You should find some settings which allow you to change the timings/latencies.

Change the CAS timing to 2T (or just 2/2.0), save changes and shutdown.
Now insert your other modules into the slots and it should work.

Edit: it probably doesn’t mean the CAS, try changing any other latency which is at 1 to 2 anyway.

The orange slots are the preferred RAM slots, but if you haven’t updated to the latest BIOS, that’s highly adviseable as that may fix some issues. However, I haven’t seen a lot of people using the Ballistix stuff with the DFI NF4 series boards. I haven’t looked through all the links, but the DFI forum mod, Electric Bill, over at PC Perspective’s forums, has a DFI NF4 Builder’s Guide over here.

In Genie BIOS, under the DRAM configuration, the Command Per Clock (CPC) has the 1T/2T timings. Tcl is the CAS setting (why DFI just didn’t use CAS is beyond me). These are manual settings you can enter. The SPD is the pre-programmed timings at the native speed of the modules, which are what the RAM is guaranteed to work at.

I’ll try the CPC timing first over the weeknd.

I downloaded the latest bios. This had the “CPC” setting which the original didn’t have.
The system boots now with this set to either “Disabled” or “Auto” although it only sees 3.5Gb.
The bios also recognises my Athlon dual cpu, the original saw it as “unknown processor”.
I have left the other memory and cpu settings as they are for the moment.
