Laptops for Gaming?!?

Alright, :swear:. I’ve been asked so many times lately, “What’s the best laptop for gaming?” or, “I primarily play 3D Games, what type of laptop should I get?” **CKING RETARDS, BUYING A LAPTOP FOR GAMING IS LIKE BUYING A MOTORCYCLE TO TOW A YACHT!!!

Exactly.

Maybe if you have $3-4k to drop…maybe. Desktop > Laptop, for gaming.

Tell them to go to Falcon Northwest or Alienware and look at the prices…maybe even Dell. insert dell dude quote

Even so, I’d like to see a $4000 laptop even try to go head-to-head against a $1000 desktop! Besides, these are all people who aren’t even going to move the systems around… I guess they just want the novelty of a laptop. Shit, you can build four nice gaming systems for the cost of one damn “gaming” laptop, and each of those systems will still outperform the laptop hands down!

What’s the spindle speed of laptop hard drives these days? 5400RPM? Yeah, that’ll do a number to ya.

With an average battery life of 3-4mins under load! 10-15min idle!

Even so, benchmark 7200 RPM HDD access speed & transfer rates against a desktop, say, 7200 RPM Seagate Barraccuda. You’ll see what B is talking about.

Thats funny i get asked the same thing by my freinds all the time. So you know what i did i saved my money and went out and got myself a Alienware laptop to show them what gaming laptops are like. Then i showed a good good freind of mine the laptop and he liked it so much that he bought it from me right on the spot. I got the laptop for around $2200. It would of cost me $3000 but i did not tell him. So he bought it for $3000 and he had no idea that i only paid $2200 for it. It was the best money making deal ever.

Now thats just plain unfair. Maybe you should give the extra money to me. :good:

In the beginning I also thought that perhaps, if enough money is spend, one could get a Laptop for gaming, but after reading the reviews and power requirements for todays cards, and comparing them with Go’s and Mobility Video cards, I understood that it was an impossible task.

My thoughts are: if you want a portable gaming box, buy an SFF and trick that out.

Some people acutally make a bitchin’ box doing that! Some water cooled ones I’ve seen are amazing
