Whether or not ASUS will get it’s act together or not is yet to be seen but just the prospect of spending this much on a graphics makes me queasy.

And the saddest thing is 2 dual 7800GTX’s in SLI will look like crap in a few years. Even later this year nVidia will refresh with something a good bit better than the GTX, assuming the Ultra model turns out with 32pipes. (2 dual 7800GTX Ultra’s in SLI, DROOL!).

come to think of it, why is it for bragging rights, as if oyu got on of those, you would not need to upgrade for a very very long time, i thought i would not need to upgrade my graphics card for about 3 years, but it seems like during june next year i will be performing a majour upgrade, graphics card, processor and motherboard.

:P, sli is good for benchmarks, but when it comes ot games, the fps increase is only like 10, maybe less.

Hmmm, SLI is overrated. I think my setup is ample to run FarCry at maximum settings WITH the x64 patch installed. Is that not ample?
SLI gives you a helluva lot more than 10 extra fps in games, more like 60-80% on most games though some like FarCry and FEAR don’t seem to appreciate it very much.
But, even that 60-80% in most games only = about 20fps.
It all depends on what kind of benchmark you’re looking at I suppose. Google a few, you may be surprised.

Well, just because FarCry doesn’t like it doesn’t change the fact that an X800 Pro is sufficient. I’m saying that the power of a single mid-high end video card is plenty, no need for 2 uber expensive ones for only 10-15 more FPS.

an x800pro will play all the games within the next 5 years, just as time goes on, the settings will have to be set lower, as games advance, but for current games like doom 3, x800pro can play on ultra settings if you have enough ram, good ram, and processor
