Lite-on DVD ROM SOHD-167T problem,pls help

I`m newbie to these things. pleases don’t flame me.

I just bought a liteon dvd rom sohd-167t.the problem is it cant read any DVD 9 movies. I had tried 3 differents dvd 9 movie but still the same. But it can play the single layer dvd movie. I had check with the neroinfo tool. It said can support dvd dual layer even the one whos sellin me this dvd rom had tried at his own city, can play the dvd 9 without any problem, he said. Any ideas wad`s going on??

It said windows cannot read from this disk.the disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows. why??

please help me. thank you.

The only conclusion i can come to is a problem with the drive itself, but you could try configuring the drive as a Master(assuming its a slave), or a Slave(assuming its a Master), catch my drift?

i had tried that method b4 yet still the same :frowning:
does it mean my drive can`t support dvd 9??the neroinfo tool give me the wrong report??

Ok, it could very well have media compatibility issues, so I’d suggest upgrading to the latest firmware, http://www.liteonit.com.tw/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd-rom.asp?Flag=1&Item=1679S1B&Model=SOHD-167T you can find instructions here on how to upgrade, here http://www.liteonit.com.tw/ODD/English/e_downloads/how%20to%20flash.asp

ok…i had update the firmware to the newest one, check the region and switch the drive to master.still can`t read it.any other ways??

longshot but download a trial version of AnyDVD and start that before your dvd player and check back!
Have you tried the drive in a different computer?

ok…i used power dvd 5 and it said a disc with an unsupported format.dvd 9 use wad kind of format??i had download the newest codec package and install it,damn it,same problem. >.<

like i said before, Have you tried the drive in a different computer?

as pelvis_3 said! also are these copied DVD/s?

i had tried all method tat u guys said, still doesnt work.i tried it at my friend computer and still the error said the file is unsupported.these r “P” dvd 9 tat i bought from town.but the seller said he doesnt have any problem with it when playin the “P” or original dvd 9.its brand new,so i think its not the drive problem??

its unlikely that it wont work in 2 different computers so i suggest taking it back and getting it replaced or trade it for a different drive!
